Taiwan Education Fair News
National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) was established in Beijing in 1911 as “Tsing Hua Academy.” In 1956, NTHU was re-established at its present location in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Since its relocation, NTHU has developed into a comprehensive research university offering a full range of degree programs in science, technology, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and management. We’re now having 11 colleges. Among all the programs, Tsing Hua College International Bachelor Degree Program (IBP) is one of the most special one.
This 4-year bachelor program is designed for international students and overseas Chinese students. This program offers a variegated route of study, to help students to develop proficiency in Mandarin and professional competitive abilities.
This program is divided into two groups, A and B. Group A is International Chinese language with multiple disciplines. The courses are taught fully in English in Group B. Students could choose courses with emphases in “Engineering Technology,” “Business Management” or “Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.”
Group A: International Chinese language with multiple disciplines
The curriculum in the first and second year focuses on the professional Mandarin courses to strengthen the language skills and proficiency. In the third and fourth years, there are two study paths to choose based on students’ interests:
1. Students will take the “Advanced Mandarin Courses” which are specifically designed for international students.
2. Students could choose the study path of the Second Profession/Specialty curriculum of other departments in NTHU.
Group B
The students will take the professional courses in the related colleges and departments according to their chosen expertise. EECS students will join the classes in the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Business Management students will attend the courses in the College of Technology Management. Engineering Technology students will take the courses in the College of Engineering.
Therefore, IBP students could not only meet their own IBP classmates from different countries and cultures. Could also have the chance to meet the Taiwanese students who are sharing the same interest in their professional classes.
And the curriculum for IBP Group B students are more flexible and you could have the opportunities to explore the interdisciplinary courses.
Also even though Group B is taught in English fully, we still encourage students to take some basic Mandarin courses and culture courses to enhance the future prospects in Mandarin-speaking regions.
