Ranking among the top 5 departments in the field in Taiwan, the Department of Electrical Engineering at NSYSU features seven main areas, including semiconductor electronics, control systems, AI & network, power system, EM waves, system-on-chip, and biomedical signal processing & instrumentation. It has been engaged in a wide range of research themes. Through intensive research and industrial projects, the graduate programs at the Department offer solid academic training to the students, who are motivated to become competent engineers and outstanding researchers capable of analyzing technical problems and approaching them precisely. Besides, the program also values the importance of students' participation in international academic communities, as the faculty encourage graduate students to publish their research results and participate in international conferences and contests.
The Department is highly internationalized, offering more than half of the courses in English. International students are welcome to apply for any level of study. The undergraduate program emphasizes a balanced training between theoretical studies and practical lab experiments, which helps students understand basic principles of electrical engineering and search for their research interests. Besides regular courses and laboratory experiments, students are required to take an independent research project during their senior year to integrate underlying principles and translate them into practice. Postgraduate students will focus on their field of interest, conduct in-depth research, and are encouraged to publish their academic findings.
Beyond the campus, the Department collaborates with companies from the Kaohsiung Software Park, Luchu Industrial Park, Tainan Science Park and many more. Through collaborative programs and technology transfer, the faculty and students have successfully implemented the academic research results into industrial products and provided leading technology to solve challenging issues enterprises face.
