Hi, my name is Tomas Kejha. I am from the Czech Republic. I am now a master’s student at the Global Human Resource Management English MBA program, NSYSU. Before I started my master’s program here, I have already been an exchange student in this university during my bachelor’s studies. At that time I really enjoyed my stay, and discovered a major that I was interested in, so I decided to come back and study MBA here after I finished my bachelor’s degree in Czech.
I really enjoy the weather in Taiwan and the natural environment in our campus that makes you feel like you are on an exotic island. That feeling does not disappear even after the first year of my studies. Besides, the environment in our university is very friendly and the professors are willing to help or discuss when some problems occur. We have professors from different countries, which gives us a chance not only to learn from the way how Taiwanese deal with problems, but also explore the views from different nationalities. Our classes usually consist of writing essays and making presentations, both individually and in a team. I believe this practical way of teaching is beneficial since it reflects more how the real working environment looks like and prepares us well for future work. Since we are studying more practical things here, learning more about how to put theories into practice is refreshing, as I believe I have learned quite a lot of theories during my bachelor’s studies. Although I am studying Human Resource Management, there are many different types of classes we can choose from, so we have a big freedom in choosing what exactly we want to study and do not have to just focus solely on HR. I believe the emphasis put on practical assignments and teamwork will be beneficial for my future work.
In addition to the academic part, we also get to attend events or activities held by our student association. We have events quite frequently. The events can be more related to academia, focused on improving our resume or inviting professors to conduct a lecture. Or it can be a more social event where we have the chance to reconnect with classmates that we might not have seen that often during the semester. We also have many competitions that we can take part in and win some prize money. The huge variety of the events is what I like the most because everyone can choose which types of events they prefer and meet friends with similar interests. I also appreciate the language exchange program that allows us to meet every week individually with one Taiwanese student to practice our Chinese and their English.
I strongly believe that Taiwan is a unique place where you can get a quality education while being surrounded by friendly and supportive people, and enjoy the convenient and beautiful environment. I am certainly considering staying in Taiwan after graduation.
