My first impression being a student here in TKU was “Which country am I studying abroad in?” It sounds silly but it was exactly what I felt at that time. It’s because two-thirds of my classmates came from all over the world and my courses are all taught in English. I appreciate that such an international environment broadens my mind, and I could learn not only from textbooks and professors but also from my talented and unique classmates.
When I was in freshman year, I really struggled with reading materials, but thanks to the school having a comfortable library with beautiful scenery and 24 hours open studying room, I could focus on studying. Moreover whenever I had difficulties, my classmates always kindly helped me study together. Studying abroad may seem lonely and a bunch of challenges need to be overcome, but here you are not alone. The International Office of our university also always thoughtfully helped us. Thanks to their care and the events they hold, I could immerse myself in Taiwanese culture and have more opportunities to get to know new friends. I feel so grateful how they make us feel secure and being taken care of.
It’s been over 4 years since I’ve been living in here but never get bored being Tamshui where the university is located. In my point of view, where the university is perfect place surrounded by nature yet close to the city center. One of my favorite things to do around the school is going for a walk to watch the sunset along the riverside. Stunning sunset and the sound of water always heal my heart especially when I feel homesick. It’s so relaxing to be in such an great environment.
Thanks to the environment university provides and the warm hearted people that I met here, I could easily get used to life here in Taiwan. I would say TKU is suitable for students seeking an international environment and for those who are longing to live in a port town like me!
