Northern Taiwan
Established in 1895, the Oldest Public University in Taiwan and the only university affiliated to Taipei City, the capital of Taiwan.

Established in 1895, as the oldest university in Taiwan, the University of Taipei has made a significant contribution to education for more than a century. After the merger of Taipei Municipal University of Education and the Taipei Physical Education College in 2013, UT has developed into a comprehensive university with extraordinary academic research achievements. We keep our original strength and go further to conduct intensive studies in various fields. In the meanwhile, we facilitate more inter-institutional communication, working hard to explore diversified areas as a paragon of teacher education, an incubator for gold medalists, and a think tank for urban studies.
UT comprises 5 colleges, 27 departments, 5 graduate institutes, and 20 Master's and PhD programs, with a total enrollment of approximately 8,000 students, including both local and international students. As of 2023, we have 216 international students enrolled in various degree programs. Our faculty consists of around 800 members, including both full-time and adjunct faculty. We have established partnerships with 161 institutions worldwide, with 98 located in Asia, 33 in the Americas, 28 in Europe, 1 in Africa, and 1 in Oceania. We value international diversity, which greatly enriches global view of all students and sets a connecting platform of international career development for future leaders.
UT has invested heavily in its facilities to provide a comfortable, safe, and inspiring learning environment for students, which include top-notch library, gym, teaching equipment, and buildings. Additionally, UT offers a diverse range of student clubs to cater to various interests and passions. UT also provides international students with various support services, such as airport pick-up, student buddies, and student club activities.
UT has two campuses: Bo-Ai campus at the heart of downtown Taipei and Tian-Mu campus in the neighborhood adjacent to Yangmingshan National Park. Both campuses are close to bus, train, and MRT stations. With convenient location, great amenities and well-deserved reputation, UT has attracted both local and international students.
1. Scholarship-Taiwan Government Scholarships
MOE (Ministry of Education) Taiwan Scholarship
Waiver of tuition and certain fees. A monthly stipend of NT$15,000 (≒US$480) for undergraduate program students, and NT$20,000 (≒US$650) for postgraduate students.
The MOE will pay up to NTD 40,000(≒US$1,300) per semester for each recipient’s approved tuition and miscellaneous expenses.
MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Taiwan Scholarship
Scholarship recipients will be given a monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (≒US$800) for the LEP (Language Enrichment Program) and NT$30,000 (≒US$970) for degree programs. Recipients are responsible for all expenses during their stay in Taiwan. MOFA will not provide any other subsidies. MOFA will, however, provide recipients with one-way, economy-class plane tickets for direct flights to and from Taiwan.
MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology) Taiwan Scholarship
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Scholarship Program provides each scholarship recipient with a NT$30,000 (≒US$970) monthly allowance for the duration of their study, 2 years for master’s programs and 3 years for doctoral programs.
2. UT Grants for International Students
Entrance grants
Grant recipients in doctoral or master’s programs may receive up to NT$60,000 per semester; recipients in undergraduate programs may receive up to NT$50,000 per semester.
Students may receive grants for up to two semesters after their first registration at the university. Grant recipients must pass eligibility review for the Grant for Current/Returning Students upon completing their first semester, in order to receive a grant for their second semester. The Review Committee may adjust grant amounts based on the recipient’s circumstances.
Grants for current/returning students
Grant recipients in doctoral or master’s programs may receive up to NT$60,000 per semester; recipients in undergraduate programs may receive up to NT$50,000 per semester.
* Grants recipients described must help University programs promote internationalization and provide a total of 120 hours of service.

Department of Mathematics
Mathematicians are in demand in a wide range of fields. Some of these career pathways include academia, data science, and mathematics teaching. The fields include consultation for government, and the private sector’s finance, accounting, banking, insurance, information systems, technology research and development.

Department of Computer Science
Goals:

Department of English Instruction
The Department of English Instruction is dedicated to the education of elementary-level English instructors. To produce skilled instructors, the department trains its students in the four basic language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In addition, the department cultivates in its students’ professional knowledge of English instruction, linguistics, literature and education. The master’s program incorporates several research areas: English instruction, language development and learning, culture, children’s literature and research methodology. It seeks new research directions in English education. Practical work and on-site classroom research in the educational field, as well as theory, are the focal points of the Master’s curriculum.
Institute of Sports Sciences
The Institute of Sports Sciences the strongest academic graduate program in the area of exercise physiology of Taiwan.

Department of Urban Industrial Management and Marketing
Taking the six emerging industries into account, the department maps out two lines of courses, in addition to the compulsory subjects required by the college and the department, for students to specialize in the study of one group from the second half of the second year. The two lines of courses are so called ‘’Innovation Management Group" and ‘’Marketing Group’’. The department expects to strengthen students' comprehension on industrial management, industrial innovation and marketing during the courses, and as well generate the aggregate effect through industrial-academic cooperation.
1. The nation’s first combination of local government resources has become an academic research base for industrial innovation and management.
2. To master the advantageous resources of the only municipal university in Taipei, the department is more focused on the management and management of related innovative industries and the planning and development of cultural and creative industries.

Department of Recreation & Sport Management
The realm of leisure sports is the backbone, and the application of management methods is the latitude. Through the integration of theory and practice, the required study courses are arranged according to the students' abilities, emphasizing the exploration of practical areas and strengthening the application of research results.
In terms of professional fields, the scope of exploration includes leisure industries, sports management, health and fitness, sports venue operations, sports communication, and leisure and adventure education, aiming to establish characteristics for the development of the leisure sports industry.
Integration of theory and practice: students participate in workplace experiences to understand the work environment and gain practical experience. This allows theory and practice to be mutually verified and coordinated, achieving the best results of "learning by doing and doing by learning."
The feature of our department is that in the second semester of senior year, students can choose whether to do an internship off-campus or attend classes on campus for elective courses. Internship units are recommended by the department or negotiated by the students themselves.
Building networks: To establish a student social communication platform and build initial workplace relationships, students can meet with professionals with common interests in the workplace to exchange work experience and insights, observe each other, and quickly enhance their professional energy.
Helping students better understand themselves: By experiencing real work situations firsthand, students can understand their own strengths and weaknesses, which is an important process for confirming future career development directions. Stepping out of their comfort zone and facing real challenges also helps to successfully resolve difficulties in the future.
Providing students with a competitive advantage: The motivation and enthusiasm for actively learning off-campus drive students to gradually strengthen their abilities in practical settings, and stand out when seeking employment.
Department of Health and Welfare
The design of the curriculum scheme for the Department aims to keep a balance between building expertise and provoking the interests of each individual student. In addition to the college-wide required courses arranged by the College of Municipal Administration Management, all the enrolled students of the Department must take required departmental courses and complete internship programs. As to the optional courses, we provide a variety of courses in the following two main areas: ‘’Health Administration and Big-Data Analysis’’ and Long-Term Care and Welfare Services'. These courses are designed to enhance the core ability of students in policy-making, field practice, and analytic skills of big data with further applications.
Department of History and Geography
The Department of History and Geography was founded in 1987. It had been known as the Department of Social Studies Education when it was focused on the education of social studies teaching at the elementary level. In accordance with our school’s restructuring plan, the department was renamed as the Department of History and Geography in 2009, and has become one of the few departments in Taiwan to cover the two academic disciplines.

College of Education, College of Humanities and Arts, and College of Science are in the Bo-Ai Campus. College of Kinesiology and College of City Management are in the Tian-Mu Campus.
College of Education is an integral part of the University of Taipei. Continuously recognized as one of Taiwan’s top teacher training institutes, the College of Education continues to be a center for innovative research, teaching, and service projects of local, national, and international interest.
College of Humanities and Arts aims to excel in the study of languages, social sciences, as well as visual and performing arts. The vision is to become one of the most renowned centers of learning in Asia in research on humanities and arts, especially in research related to Chinese culture, languages, and elementary school teacher training. It also works towards developing cross-disciplinary initiatives to enhance dialogues and collaboration across humanities, arts and other fields of knowledge.
College of Science has applied much of their efforts to planning and updating the laboratories and other research facilities/equipment of their departments, and has thus created a very capable assemblage of science and technology education, research, and guidance for students. In the near future, the departments plan to coordinate with enterprises and also develop international cooperation. The departments are also actively involved in forming expert teams for scientific and technological education and research.
College of Kinesiology provides high-level training for students specialized in sports, aiming to develop elite athletes and coaches, PE teachers at all levels of schools, and researchers in kinesiology.
College of City Management has been devoted to urban industrial management & marketing, health & welfare, and urban development, serving as a bridge between the central and local governments and as a think tank for the governments on urban and rural planning.
